2010 Bathurst Bike Shows

A Wet One in 2010

It was memorable at Bathurst this year for the 12 Hour Bike Shows for many reasons. A weekend of heavy rain caused numerous crashes and even a tree collapse onto the track stopping the race for a fair amount of time.

Down at the bike shows Saturday’s live music was cancelled and there was fear that no motorcycles would turn up in these conditions. How wrong that was. Bikers Australia had six bikes come up from Sydney and three from Young.

Joe from Liverpool HOG brought up three special custom Harleys. Other local riders braved the conditions with some outstanding custom motorcycles. Central West HOG turned up in the rain on Sunday with six bikes as well. In the end there were 22 bikes on display on Saturday and 11 on Sunday.

Some interesting characters turned up as well. The Armour All mascot turned up with some female company and made his presence felt. Then there was Elvis. He posed beside a gleaming white Harley (matching his suit) and of course there was the famous ‘Phantom’ Bike that was on display amongst the car clubs.

Probably the best comment of the day belongs to Southern Cross Cruiser member Rose  Hancock who summed up the whole event:

“Forget the weather- it was a good weekend anyway!”
