2009 Bathurst Club Display Day

On Sunday February 22 the second of the 12 Hour motorcycle events occurred in the same prominent position at the Mount Panorama circuit. The free club display day brought bikes from as far as Sydney, Mudgee, Orange, Canberra and Bredbo near Cooma. In all 50 turned up for a display from 9am to 2pm trying to win one of the eight rally awards and five special bike category awards covering American, British, Japanese,European and three wheeler motorcycles.

Awards covered the longest distance travelled, youngest and oldest riders/pillions, longest distance by a female rider plus a couple od categories for largest club and branch attendance. While the Mount Panorama Vintage Club and Bikers Australia from Sydney did well in these categories there was also attendance from the local Ulysses and HOG groups plus a representation from the Christian Motorcycle Association in Sydney.

Special mention should be made of the number of female riders who came to the event, especially Leanne Xerri who rode her Ducati through the mountain rain 165 kms all the way from Sydney to support the event.

The record attendance this year culminated a hugely successful motorcycle weekend at Bathurst’s famous race circuit. The only thing that could make it better would be some motorcycle racing on track. We can only hope and pray.

Special thanks to Shannon’s Insurance, Brotherhood Christian Motorcycle Club, Live to Ride Magazine, Sam Laws Motorcycles (Orange), Beard Brothers Motorcycle (Bathurst) and Great Western Motorcycles (Bathurst).

See you in 2010!
